I was born in the North Beach district of
San Francisco to 1st generation parents from Spain and
Italy. I grew up in the Outer Mission district, living around the
corner from the love of my life, and future husband, Greg. We spent
our childhood together, creating many memories and sharing playtime
with friends. We have been happily married for 32 years and have
raised two great sons. Greg is my best friend, confidante, lover
and soul mate. Hopefully all the love I share with my wonderful
family comes forth in my paintings.
As a young girl the beauty that surrounded me, from our beautiful
bridges, to the awesome coastline and fabulous architecture of our
picturesque city always inspired me. I was inspired but was never
able to adequately express myself on paper or canvas. My Italian
cousins are all very artistic and I spent my youth believing that
the talent passed me by.
However, in 1996, an artist friend, Phyllis, talked me into taking
an oil painting lesson from her. That day truly altered my life.
My vision changed. I started looking at everything differently-
clouds were suddenly stunning formations; birds were intricate creatures;
trees, particularly oaks, were so powerful and graceful at the same
time.
I just wanted to paint or draw everything that touched me. I experimented
on my own for a while, teaching myself, but I knew I needed more
instruction and guidance. I found a great teacher and artist in
Stefan Baumann. He has given me the means to express with oil and
brush what is in my soul. He is my mentor and friend and I thank
him.
I hope you enjoy my paintings and seeing things as I see them. Thanks
for stopping by.
